Helena Schätzle * 28.09.1983

Helena Schätzle studied five years visual communication at the University of Kassel. By travelling through many different countries like India, South-East Asia, Australia and Eastern-Europe the camera was constantly with her. Many different photo essays about the different cultures she experienced and mostly concerning social issues arose.

Since 2003 she is working as a freelance photographer for different newspapers, agencies and magazines e.g. Brand Eins, Spiegel-online, Stern.de, Taz, Südkurier and Medio.

In 2008 Helena Schätzle was a nominee for the Unicef photo of the year, in 2009 she got the Epson Award.

She exhibited at many different places e.g. Kunstverein Hannover, dokumentahalle, Caricatura and Galerie PICant in Kassel, Photokina Köln, C/O Berlin. In Germany as well as in India she was holding different photography courses, mainly for underprivileged youth.
